Tribe: Avennorian
Hair Color: Brownish Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Height: 1.66 Peds
Weight: 1.7 Pygge
Occupation: Mercenary for Hire (Assassin, Thief, and Acquirer of Information)
Overview: Very simply put, Roland is a man whose main drive is to start a guild of his own and kill his former guild master. He is very loyal to those who he thinks deserve it and the only thing that has a stronger driving power for Roland than currency, gems and anything of worth that he could steal is his extreme fear of rodents.
Clothing: Black Outfit (Shirt, Pants, Gloves, and Thieves Shoes), and a Black Cloak with hood. He carries some Nobles Clothing for special occasions.
Items: Two curved Assassin's Daggers, Concealable hand cross-bow, and a Vile of poison.
Strengths: : Mobile, agile and extremely quick and very Intelligent. Roland can use small daggers with great ease and proficiency. Roland can use a small cross-bow with decent accuracy, but due to the fact that he depends on poisons, he can usually hit a target the size of a human male with ease just not necessarily on a specific spot. He knows about how to use poisons and what they can do but that is it as far as it goes for what he knows of poisons. Roland can pick most locks quickly and learns very quickly when told about a new kind of lock. The harder locks Roland can generally pick with ease also but real complex locks may take some time. Out of all his skills, Roland excels the most in Stealth and Escape, partially due to his small size. Roland knows the art of assassination very well, though has not used it to a great extent as of yet. Roland has some knowledge in the art of Disguise, but he always preferred to not be seen at all, so he is kind of lacking in this area. He can use makeup and clothing to change his appearance, though he never carries any, but his acting skills can be quite lacking, depending on how different the person is from him self. Roland dabbles in the arts of forgery, and though he would love to learn more, he is far from good enough for this skill to do any good. Roland is always willing to learn more and with most things he proves to be a quick learner.
Weaknesses: Roland is far from physically strong and hit for hit, against most, he will almost always loose. He is not able to use any armor and has no training with any weapons other than daggers and small cross-bows. He is a Kleptomaniac and it is guarantied that if he thinks he can steal it and get away with it, then he is going to. He has some morals (in his line of business this is a weakness) and must convince him self or be convinced that he is doing what is right or what must be done.. He has an extreme fear of all rodents, so much of a fear that he cannot kill them and cannot control his reaction to them. Roland has a soft spot for all women and mistakenly trust women far to fast and far to easy, this is due to his lack of dealings with women, due to his life style. Roland knows little about life out side of the guild and is often caught off guard by just how things really are.
Appearance: Short and skinny, its obvious that Roland lacks the strength of the ever day worker or adventure. Most of the time Roland conceals him self in his Hooded cloak, but on Occasion, when He is not concealing him self from the authorities, Rolands face can be seen. With his deep blue eyes and his Brownish blonde hair he appears to be a totally different person with the hood on his cloak removed from his head. His face looks like that of a nobles, clean and unharmed. Just to look at his face tells you tells you even further of his lack of physical labor, but yet leaves you thinking him a trustworthy and naive person. When most see Roland they underestimate his ability to defend him self due to his size. When dressed in nobles clothing he can blend in with any group of nobles.
Familiars: Roland owns a horse, or which seems to reply to the name Duke. The horse is extremely well trained and if Roland knew anything about horses other than how to ride them he could utilize the horse for great escapes. Roland came about this horse when fleeing his former guild, a small boy stood out side a tavern watching the horse. Roland just walked up like he owned the horse and started to untie the horses bondage when the boy who was watching the horse yelled My Lord, a horse thief be stealin your horse! Roland took one of his daggers and cut the straps with ease to jump on the horse and ride off into the darkness, the whole time listening to an older man yell, cuss and threaten that he is going to track his horse down.
Personality: Kleptomaniac. Roland generally has two personalities. Which one he is at the time depends on who he is around or what he is doing.
One personality is when he is on a job, dealing with anyone threatening or any possible employer. While he is this person he acts like an expert killer. He is rude and very outgoing in everything he says. He will try and intimidate those that are possible threats and try to impress those that are possible employers, with his skills at killing and stealth. Generally while he is this person he tends to hide his faces and keep his identity unknown.
His second personality is when he is around normal people or generally anytime he fells he is safe and doesnt have to impress anyone. While he is this person he acts like a kind, generous, quiet and naive young man. With this being said he is never shy about his abilities of stealth and thievery, unless he feels it best to keep it to him self.
Roland is not an evil man but yet with the right justification he will do almost anything. To perform an assassination, for instance, he must feel that he is either doing it for a good reason or he must receive enough money to keep his mind off of the moral ideology of the situation. Roland is very naive about most situations of right or wrong, though its quite intentional so that he can feel better about doing something wrong for what he makes him self believe to be the right reason.
He tends to be a very loyal person but that loyalty takes time and/or a great deal of proof that he can trust him/her. Roland generally cares not for helping those he does not know or have anything to offer him.
Roland has an unsafe trust for women and honestly believes that every woman he sees has a kind heart and could do no wrong, unless some how forced in to doing so. He is always willing to help a woman who has been kind and generous for him, if not for free for half the price he would normally charge.
Roland likes to think things out and plan ahead. He is easily intrigued by a puzzle or a challenging situation, especially if its one that he cause by being grabby. Roland also enjoys conversation and is always prefers to travel with a companion. He prefers company partially do to his craving for social interaction and conversation but also because of his size and lack of brut force. Roland tends to seek out parts of two or three, always seeking a strong arm to take the front when something comes about wanting to fight.
History: Spending most of his younger life living with his mother and father, who ran a local temple north of Ciosa, Roland grew up living a poor life. His parents taught him strong morals and great caring along with strong discipline. Roland spent most of his time taking care of his parents Temple and learning a bit of everything from his mother, who spent a great deal of time teaching Roland.
When Roland was at the young age of 6 he had awoke one night from a deep sleep. He had awoken to a huge rat that was sitting on his cot to his right. To hear Roland describe it the rat was 3foot tall and had fangs big enough to puncture a mans skull. When he awoke and saw this rat Roland immediately hit the rat as hard as he could, and got bit in the process. Latter that day Roland became extremely sick and every one was sure death would be soon for him. He stayed like this for what had seemed to be three weeks and finally he started recovering. Coming from being so close to death and being in so much pain for so long, Roland grew a horrifying fear of Rats. Every since then Roland can not even stand to see a rat, and if he does he freaks out and cant even kill it.
One night, when Roland was of the age 12, he was cleaning up the Temple. His father had gone to the near by village to collect some goods and his mother was in one of the back rooms cleaning up also. Ever thing was going as if it had ever other day for the last 12 years when suddenly a small group of wounded men came into the Temple. One man could barely walk and was being help to walk by two other men. These men had the look of fear pressed upon their face as they fled an unknown foe. They went to Roland and begged for asylum. Not knowing what else to do Roland just stood shocked not saying a word. Eventually they gave up on Roland and walked right past him to one of the back rooms.
Before Roland had a chance to do anything more another group of men, two men dressed in black, entered the Temple. They headed strait for Roland and Inquired as to where three fleeing men were. Roland stood shocked once more, so one of the men offered Roland a gold coin, the like of which Roland had never even touched. This loosing Rolands tongue, he muttered out a question to the men. He inquired as to who they are. They answered that they are business men who are keeping life just, and that they must find these men for they have done a very important man a great injustice. Then they asked of Roland were his father was, and he told them how he was in the near by village and then told them of were these men they were hunting had gone. The men went in to the back room and soon screams of pain bellowed from the back of the temple.
After a short time the men in black came from the room with bloody bags in their hands, and one man walked right out the Temple while the other walked over to Roland. He kneeled down and told Roland that the men had killed his parents. He told Roland that the men they were hunting found out about the Temple through his father, so they killed his father and fled to the temple, were they then killed his mother. The man then told Roland that he must come with him to Marcogg, so that their Guild leader could decide how to help him. They put Roland through many of test and after weeks of test Roland finally met with the Guild leader. Impressed with the results of Rolands test and more over that he had no family, the Guild leader requested that Roland join the guild so that he could be trained to be an effective member of the guild, and they would always take care of him and be his new family. Feeling that he had no other choice and seeing as how they came to his rescue Roland accepted his offer and under went constant training to become an Assassin, Thief, and more over a master of stealth.
Through out the following years Roland spent every waking hour and sometimes sleeping hours also, training in some form of or another. Roland would undergo many forms of training in the arts of stealth, thievery, assassination, escape and Disguise. Rolands favorite direction of training was stealth and assassination, and in these two Roland excelled. He underwent harsh and constant training at all hours of the day. He would be awoken on random days by an attack from other guild members, as a drill to train him in awareness.
Due to the fact that training could only take you so far, Roland was sent on small jobs rather early because of how fast he absorbed all the information and surpassed his peers. His first jobs started small and in the field of stealth and thievery. At first, the jobs where simple ones where he had to do nothing more than sneak in a place of business or some ones home and steal a simple item or some currency for the place, then simply enough just return to the guild and give the said item to whom ever he was directed to give it to. Rolands flawless record and hard training soon was rewarded with even harder and more dangerous jobs. These often involved sneaking in to more fortified, occupied buildings and stealing something, often enough in a locked container. This is also when Roland has his first Assassination mission. He was ordered to kill a man who had stopped accepting bribes and was endangering the lives of countless innocents by trying to stop the guild from supplying smuggled goods. It was a simple enough assassination, sneak in the mans house, come up behind him while he started a fire to keep warm and take him out with a well placed jab in the neck from a dagger dipped in poison. Roland then moved on and up to more dangerous jobs and gaining more and more respect from the leader of the guild.
At first Roland had plenty of free time, of which he spent most of it training, but as time went on Roland received more and more jobs, difficulty increasing with the number of jobs. Having little to no time for anything other than his jobs, training and a little bit of sleep, Roland never had time for social interaction with others. He dealt all the time with others in the guild that he worked with and had to talk with but none on a social level other than work.
By the age of 19 Roland had performed countless jobs dealing with stealth and thievery and a few others dealing with disguise though the Guild leader was not please about those. He also had escaped many of time from close situations of almost getting caught. One dark night when the clouds had built up and left the stench of rain in the air, Rolands Mentor, who he had grown quite attached to, was on his death bed, and was certain to die. His mentor was the same man that brought him to the Guild many years ago. Broken up by his Mentor on the verge of death, he stayed by his side day and night. On the last day of the Mentors life he grasped Rolands hand tight and told him to listen closely. He told Roland how everything that he ever told Roland was a lie. He told him how his father was never killed and how he was the one that killed his mother, under orders to leave no witnesses. Roland stood shocked for a second, not knowing what to say or do. Then Roland pulled one of his Daggers and placed it upon his mentors throat, then said in to his mentor, Give me one reason not to kill you right here. With that said his mentor closed his eyes and let out his last breath of life. Roland dropped to his knees and grabbed his head and began to franticly think of what his next course of action should be. Desiring the bitter taste of revenge so deeply, Roland fought the desire to attempt to kill the Guild master. Needing a better thought out plan, a lot more money, and a guild of his own Roland fled the Guild in search of all this. Vowing that he will have his own guild and he will extract his revenge from the Guild masters bloody Corpse.
